We are developing an innovative aerial immersive cultural heritage touring system that enables users to explore historical sites and cultural landscapes from a flight perspective in VR. The project is in an active R&D stage and we have completed a first functional prototype. The system advances along two parallel tracks: 3D Scene Reconstruction & Interaction – Build high-fidelity 3D environments from multi-source data such as aerial imagery and LiDAR, and deliver interactive VR experiences including aerial navigation, hotspot triggers, and guided tours. Motion Hardware Integration – Design and prototype a motor-driven motion “flight base” with dynamic feedback. Users control the flight view via body posture and interact with VR content in real time for a bird-like flying experience. Current focus: engineering the prototype into a scalable, iterative system—improving efficiency and reusability of the 3D reconstruction pipeline, enhancing real-time stability of software–hardware integration, and strengthening system architecture for ongoing iteration. You will work as a core R&D member and take ownership of: Integrating, processing, and standardising multi-source data (aerial imagery, LiDAR, etc.) to support fast 3D scene reconstruction and updates Implementing and iterating VR-side interaction logic and performance optimisation (hotspots, tour flow, frame rate and loading optimisation, etc.) Supporting integration testing between the motion platform and VR system, including interface definition, synchronisation control, and experience tuning (latency, stability, comfort) Establishing and maintaining data specifications, evaluation metrics, and technical documentation to enable cross-team collaboration and continuous iteration
