1. Working closely with the Head of Growth across three main areas: -Business Development: originating new customers, developing relationships with existing customers, and identifying opportunities for further growth within existing and new customer segments. Visiting customers, listening, and being the voice of the customer internally. Attending conferences and events on behalf of VALR for business development and network building. -Strategic projects and products: assistance with project managing and executing strategic projects and some new product development, including market research, scoping of work, coordination of internal efforts and decision making, creation of documentation, operational procedures as well as helping launch new beta products with our most active and large customers. -International Expansion: assistance with licensing and regulatory engagements across the globe. Including preparing license application documentation, business plans, and other documentation. Creating presentation material and occasionally presenting materials to regulatory or industry bodies. Traveling to new regions to conduct market research and meet key stakeholders. 2. To utilise your knowledge, skill, expertise, and contacts in order to further and grow the Business, and customer base, improve operations, and enhance profits of the Company; 3. To liaise with the necessary third parties and suppliers as and when required in order to further Company objectives. 4. To take on any role and to carry out actions as required in terms of a startup business.
-At least 2 years of business experience with client engagements in professional, financial services or similar industries -Ability to ramp up and learn new topics quickly -Adaptable and able to change priorities rapidly -Strong interpersonal and client communication skills -Strong analytical and written communication, including experience in drafting reports, financial models, and external documentation/presentations -Knowledge and understanding of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology -To be familiar with and have a basic knowledge of the financial services industry at large and have a basic understanding of the regulatory environment in which financial services operate including KYC, AML/CFT -Responsiveness - highly responsive to incoming communication both internally and externally (i.e. timeously responding to internal stakeholders and customers in a fast-moving industry) Technical/Core competencies required: -Communication and stakeholder engagement. -Priority vs urgency decision making. -Analytical and written communication capabilities. -Leadership and people management skills. -Understand second-order effects and consequences of decisions. -Foresight and identification of trends and the impact of decisions. -Identify and manage business risks. -Knowledge of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology Other competencies required: -Ability to “manage upwards” as well as “downward” - i.e. able to provide direction and leverage to senior, as well as more junior people as required -Able to work with a wide variety of stakeholders internally and externally -Able to work independently and with little oversight -Strong sense of when to bring in additional viewpoints, or ask for assistance -Raise issues and roadblocks early
